We’re going on a bear hunt.
We’re going to catch a big one.
What a beautiful day.
We’re not scared.
Uh oh, grass. Long, wavy grass.
Can’t go under it.
Can’t go over it.
Oh well, we’ll have to go through it.
Swishy, swashy, swishy, swashy, swish.
When life throws grass in your path, you may not complain much. But as times get tougher we end up dealing with rivers, mud, forests, snowstorms, and even bears! #bearsarebetterinbooks
Whatever life puts in our path, we can’t go under it, we can’t go over it, THE BEST way is to go THROUGH it.
We must go through our trials to grow the person who awaits us on the other side.
Growing takes effort. It takes nourishment, light, and time. Going through our trials means facing our reality. This means being present in our life no matter what happens to be happening. Being willing to FEEL as much as we can along our journey IS the nourishment and light we seek.
As we experience life. We become better at it. We learn how to walk through grass, then rivers, then mud, forests, snowstorms, and even bear encounters!
I know how to help my struggling 16-year-old because that was 2 years ago. Now I know what worked and what didn’t. Now I have to figure out how to influence my 18-year-old. The only way I’m going to figure that out is to go through the experience. Then I’ll know and understand.
This is how we grow. This is how your teen grows. – by going through it.
